Our desire would be to list all of the Messianic prophecies and their fulfillment as given in the Scriptures. However, this would require a much larger publication. May the few quoted here relating to only one of the many prophetic topics--the sufferings and death of the Messiah--impart the blessing of faith in God's infallible Word and in His Beloved Son.
Wounded, Bruised
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5).
"For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who know no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him ... Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree" (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Pet. 2:24).
Smitten and Spit Upon
"I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not My face from shame and spitting" (Isaiah 50:6).
Then did they spit in His face, and buffeted Him; and others smote Him with the palms of their hands" (Matthew 26:67).
Scorned, Mocked
"All they that see Me laugh Me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the Lord that He would deliver Him" (Psalm 22:7,8).
"After that they had mocked Him, they took the robe off from Him, and put His own raiment on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him" (Matthew 27:31,39-44).
Pierced Hands, Feet
"They pierced My hands and My feet" (Psalm 22:16). "I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced" (Zechariah 12:10).
"Then saith He to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing" (John 20:27).
Side Pierced
"I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint: My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels" (Psalm 22:14).
"But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water" (John 19:34).
Garments
"I may tell all My bones: they look and stare upon Me. They part My garments among them, and cast lots upon My vesture" (Psalm 22:17,18).
"Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also His coat...cast lots for it" (John 19:23,24).
Suffer Thirst
"My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and My tongue cleaveth to My jaws; and Thou hast brought Me into the dust of death" (Psalm 22:15).
"After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst" (John 19:28).
Vinegar and Gall
"They gave Me also gall for My meat; and in My thirst they gave Me vinegar to drink" (Psalm 69:21).
"They gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when He had tasted thereof, He would not drink" (Matthew 27:34).
Forsaken of God
"My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me? Why art Thou so far from helping Me, and from the words of My roaring?" (Psalm 22:1).
"And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" (Matthew 27:46).
No Bones Broken
"He keepeth all His bones: not one of them is broken" (Psalm 34:20).
"Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was dead already, they brake not His legs" (John 19:32,33).
Numbered With Transgressors
"Therefore will I divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He hath poured out His soul unto death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors" (Isaiah 53:12).
"And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:33,34).
