War in the Falklands with its devastating attacks by sophisticated weapons makes protection from the enemy's assaults more difficult than ever. Several times missiles have been released, locked in upon their target undetected by the doomed ships at sea. What fear must grip the hearts and paralyze the men who find they have no place to hide as their ship becomes a sinking inferno.
As dreadful as physical death and destruction from war continue to be, there is a far more tragically dreadful experience. I speak of the ruin of the souls of men who have no hiding place for eternity when the judgments of God, committed into the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ, fall upon this world during the tribulation period. Revelation 6:14-17 graphically describes the dreadful fear of men without Christ at that time. Irrespective of their station in life--whether King or subject, rich or poor--men will call for the rocks and mountains to fall upon them, saying, "Fall upon us and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth upon the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb."
This need not be, for now God's grace still provides a hiding place as Isaiah 32:2 reveals: "A man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest." That Man is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. On Calvary He bore the wind and tempest sinful men deserve. He lives to receive and shelter all who come to Him by faith. Those who flee to Him now are safe in the "Rock of Ages cleft for sin." Those who refuse to come in time shall suddenly be cut off by the judgment of the One who would have been their Hiding Place from the wrath to come.
Delay no longer to come to Him for refuge. He will receive you and protect you forever.
