Saved in His Teens

A boy saved in his teens whom I knew well, wasted most of his life until he was thirty years old. He got in with the wrong company and developed their bad ways and habits.

Through severe illness he was brought back to fellowship with God and then gave himself wholeheartedly to the Lord. He spent four long years in bed, but said they were the happiest of his life. He was much concerned for the young, and before he died said: "Oh, if young people who are Christians could only realize that no matter how little we give to the Lord He gives us so much more in return, they would give themselves wholeheartedly to Christ, instead of wasting their lives like I did." Surely this testimony should speak to us--both young and old--lest we also fail to put God first in all things.

Why should it be necessary to waste precious years before realizing the truth of these words:

"Only one life, 'twill soon be past;
Only what's done for Christ will last."

Christ said: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness" (Matthew 6:33).

--T.B. Gilbert
