Are You Looking...

FOR SALVATION? Listen to what God says: "Look to unto Me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is none else" (Isaiah 45:22). The Lord Jesus told Nicodemus, "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:14,15). Looking to Jesus lifted up on the Cross is believing in Him who died in your place that you might be saved and possess eternal life. Look and live!

FOR FELLOWSHIP? The believer's fellowship is "with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:3). When the Lord Jesus is received as the Lamb slain for him, the believer desires communion, or fellowship, with Him. When two of John the Baptist's disciples heard him adoringly say, "Behold the Lamb of God" (John 1:36), they left John and followed Jesus. Jesus asked them, "What seek ye?" They responded, "Master, where dwellest Thou?" He replied, "Come and see." They came and saw and dwelt with Him that day (see John 1:37-39). What a day that must have been! Their desire was fulfilled, and so was His. He still says, "Come and see." By faith we enter into His presence. We speak to Him in prayer. He speaks to us in His Holy Word. In this blessed experience of day by day fellowship, our joy will be full! (1 John 1:4).

FOR GUIDANCE? In Psalm 32:8, the Lord says, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye." That's a promise! Eye contact with His eye is the heart's concentration on Him to give guidance through His Word and Holy spirit. Willing to be directed assures divine instruction and guidance. Willing to do His will assures certainty of knowledge. (See John 7:17).

FOR ENCOURAGEMENT? Are you feeling the pressures of life, the burdens of affliction, the various trials of the way? Look up to "The God of all comfort [or, encouragement]: who comforteth us in ALL our tribulation" (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). He tells us in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your care upon Him: for HE CARETH FOR YOU." The risen Lord Jesus is "a merciful and faithful High Priest … able to succour them that are tempted [or, tried]" (Hebrews 2:17,18). And "God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted [or, tried] above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). By faith then, Look off unto Jesus! He never fails!

FOR TRANSFORMATION? Do you long to be more like the Lord Jesus? Notice the prescription: "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18). Looking by faith to the Lord in glory, beholding His excellencies of beauty—His love, grace and power—as revealed in His Word, effects a change in our hearts and lives. As He captures our hearts, our outward behavior will be the true transformation of His glory reflected in us!

FOR HOPE? Surely there is no hope if we are seeking it in self or in this world. NO! But look up, "the coming of the Lord draweth nigh" (James 5:8). "Looking for that blessed HOPE, and the glorious appearing of the Great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13). He is "the Hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27). He is coming to the air to rapture His own to the Father's house. He has promised, "I will come again and receive you unto Myself that where I am, there ye may be also" (John 14:3). He says, "Surely, I come quickly" (Revelation 22:20). Let us respond, "Even so, come Lord Jesus"!
