Ever New ... Never Boring
That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:7).
Many people suppose that we shall see heaven the first day we get there. You cannot see the United States in a year. You cannot see California in a month. You cannot see New York City in a week. You cannot see Disney World in a day. We cannot expect to see the great city of God in any period of time. It will take all eternity to seehe splendors of heaven.
Tourists take delight at the sights of earth such as what can be seen from the deck of the ferry as it crosses New York Harbor. However, commuters who ride that same boat hundreds of times a year rarely look up from their newspapers. Heaven will not be like that. God will never run out of new wonders, new glories, and new displays of grace to share with His people. Ages on ages roll, yet heaven is ever new. The new joy! The new song! The new acquaintances! The new home! The infinite Saviour!
