The Extent of Joy
There is joy in retrospect as we look at the past. The Bible assures the believer in Christ that his past is forgiven (Ephesians 1:7) and forgotten (Hebrews 10:17).
There is joy of aspect, as we look at the present. Christ has given us His abundant life (John 10:11), His joy (John 15:11) and His peace (John 14:27).
There is the joy of prospect, as we look forward to the future. We look for that blessed hope of Christ's coming (Titus 2:13), when we shall be like Him and see Him as He is (1 John 3:2) and shall know the fulness of joy in His presence forevermore (Psalm 16:11).
With our past, present and future so brightly adorned with joy, how can the child of God be anything but enthusiastically joyful?
