Creation's Language
The alphabet, to which Christ draws special attention by making the claim beyond human comprehension to be the Alpha and Omega, is illimitable, inexhaustible, and indispensable. In order to help us better understand some of the incomparable glories of this peerless One, Scripture likens Christ to some things we can see and know around us in creation.
In the astronomical realm, He is said to be the Star and Sun; in the animal kingdom He is declared to be the Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God; in the biological world He is titled the Tree of Life and Fountain of Life; in the botanical sphere He is the Rose of Sharon and Lily of the Valley; in the geological order He is the Rock of Ages and Precious Cornerstone; in the mineral kingdom He is likened to the sardine and jasper stones; and in the philological field He is Alpha and Omega and the Word.
The whole earth is full of His glory, as seen in the sublimity of the sky which is so measureless, the splendors of the stars which are so countless, the shining of the sun which is so exhaustless, the surging of the ocean which is so ceaseless, the designs of snowflakes which are so numberless, the springs of fountains which are so traceless, or the fragrance of flowers which are so matchless.
