Astrology is a perversion of ancient knowledge of the stars and constellations. It is a belief system based on the assumption that stars and planets mysteriously affect the lives of men beginning at birth and throughout one's life.

Astronomy and the study of constellations is a science through which the glory of God and His redemptive plan can be seen, but astrology is a superstition—a counterfeit of Satan inherited from pagan religions where the planets and constellations of the zodiac were worshipped as gods who influenced events on earth. There is hardly any newspaper which does not print horoscopes and other such false information. Any involvement with astrology is loudly condemned by God (Deuteronomy 4:19; 17:2-5; 18:10-12; Isaiah 47:13,14; Revelation 21:8).

Why does God forbid this kind of divination when He Himself made the stars and said they would be signs? Because the stars were made by God to carry His message and to glorify Him. However, as man has done with virtually everything God has created, astrology has taken the signs in the zodiac and corrupted them, and changed their use from what God had originally intended. Astrologers have twisted the divine message into myths, resulting in idolatry and heathen religions which are a perversion of God's original revelation to man in the stars. Therefore, astrology should have no place in the life of a Christian.
