When a Christian child was asked what she did when tempted to do wrong, she replied that she turned to the Lord Jesus, whom she had invited to dwell in her heart, and said:—

"There's Satan at the door. Will You please go and answer the knock? And when Satan sees it's Jesus, he knows it's no use stopping, so he goes away."

What a wise young Christian!

Satan still tempts us though we are Christians—he even tempted the Lord Jesus Himself! (Matthew 4:1-11). The enemy of our souls is stronger than we are, so do not let us try to fight him ourselves, but, like our young friend, ask the Lord to deal with him for us. In other words, don't answer the door yourself, but ask the Saviour to do so!
