Looking Back … Looking On!
God has the old year safely in His keeping;
The New Year dawns with hopes all fresh and fair;
We watch—our eyes the far horizon sweeping,
For the first glimmer of the Daystar there.
We watch and pray, as on our hearts, grown lighter,
The peace of God rests like a brooding dove;
Forward we press with courage ever brighter,
While o'er us still there floats His banner—"Love."
On, Comrades, On! The glory is before us,
The Home, the Rest, the Joy of conflict won;
But more than all, His voice rejoicing o'er us,
The Father's welcome, and the King's "Well done."
Fearlessly on! Our hearts with joy pulsating,
To greet our Captain as He draweth near;
Lord Jesus, come! and end our eager waiting,
We know Thee better now than last New Year.
No More Curse
The Old Testament ends with the solemn word "curse" (Malachi 4:6). The last chapter of the New Testament promises that "there shall be no more curse" (Revelation 22:3), and that because Christ was "made a curse for us" (Galatians 3:13).
