Lifesaving Tracts!
The first time a gunman tried to fire at Ralph Owens, the bullet didn't discharge. Then a bullet ripped into Gospel tracts in Owens' pocket and dropped harmlessly to the ground.
A police officer nearby arrived as the gunmen aimed again at Owens, a missionary of the California Laymen's Crusade. Two youths, 18 and 20, were booked Sunday night on suspicion of robbery and attempted murder. Police said $1.30 had been taken from Owens.
"It was a miracle," Owens said of his escape.

The Effectiveness of Tracts
Did you ever wonder why the printed page is so effective? It has been well said that here are seven good reasons:
- It is the easiest way to approach a person.
- It needs no public meeting place and can go anywhere.
- It is always faithful and can speak on any subject.
- It is economical. Do you know of a less expensive way to spread the gospel of Christ?
- It is not overcome by fear, opposition or weariness.
- It is backed by the prayers of the publisher and distributor.
- It remains to minister to hearts over and over again.
Yes, many have come to realize that the printed page is one of the most effective weapons in existence in the battle for the minds and souls of men.
—The Prayer Line
Pass It On
When the Lord has given blessing,
By a tract or little book,
Do not leave it idly lying
In some soon forgotten nook.
There are others to be watered,
And hungry souls to feed,
So seek to spread the blessing
That has reached you in your need.
Wit hits freshness yet upon you
Ere the first glad glow has gone,
Let your heart look up for guidance
That your hand may pass it on.
And the one from you receiving
Blessing gaining just like you,
Can keep that blessing flowing
And PASS IT ON anew.
