"It is Not Feeling: It is Faith"
When I was in deep soul trouble, longing to be saved and to have the peace and the joy I saw others around me possess, I went to a Christian doctor, a man whom I knew to have skill to direct the sinner for the healing and health of his soul as well as for the body. "I believe all that I read, and all that you preach, still I cannot feel myself a Christian." "It is not feeling: it is faith," said the doctor. "You are looking in to yourself, expecting to find evidences of salvation there, instead of looking off to Jesus alone, as your Saviour." Faith believes God, takes Him at His Word, and confesses Christ alone as the Saviour. When God says, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life (John 3:36)—faith says, "I do believe on Him, and I have that life everlasting, no matter what my feelings say to the contrary." I saw that moment that it was mine to believe God. I did, and I was saved. Reader, will you take God at His word?
