"It's a Lie, A Terrible Lie!"
Some years ago, Dr. Will Houghton was in the Holy Land during an Easter season. With great interest, he watched a large crowd of people march along a street. In front of the procession was a life-size wax figure of Christ—dead! How life-like was the wax figure! Mothers held up their little children and said, "Kiss the Christ!" Dr. Houghton became sick at heart at the hollow mockery! He thought, "It is a lie—a base, terrible lie! He is not dead! The cross and tomb are past! He is alive forevermore!"
—Selected
Jesus said, "I am He that liveth, and was dead: and, behold, I am alive for evermore" (Revelation 1:18).
The Magnet
The magnet always turns toward the pole; the needle always trembles a little when the storm and tempest roar, but its direction changes not; the needle of the Christian's heart always points toward Christ.
