Christ in the Scriptures
I once saw a picture skillfully engraved in copper-plate, so that when you looked at it closely it was a piece of writing, but when you looked at it from a distance it was the face of George Washington. The face shone out in the shading of the letters, and I saw the person, not words, nor ideas. That is how to look at the Scriptures, seeing in them not ideas, not doctrines, but Jesus Himself as the Life of all our life.
