Word or World?
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world" (1 John 2:15).
"Thy word was unto me the . . . rejoicing of mine heart" (Jeremiah 15:16).
"Just one letter of the alphabet makes all the difference between us now," said a recently converted young woman to an unsaved friend, who could not understand the great change that had come over her. "You love the world," she said, "and I love the word."
Love not the world: its smiles, its hopes may lure thee on;
But cup of joy and dream of bliss will soon be gone.
But he who does the will of God for aye will live,
And drink streams of heaven's delights which Christ can give.
Gospel Fishing
You must have tackle with which to fish for men: pole—love; line—compassion; hook—faith; flies—a life of beauty. Then you must go where the fish are. We have been trying to catch whales with bent pins.
