Profit or Loss?

(Matthew 16:26)

What will it profit, when life here is o'er,
Though great worldly wisdom I gain,
If, seeking knowledge, I utterly fail
The wisdom of God to obtain?

What will it profit, when life here is o'er,
   Though gathering riches and fame
If, gaining the world, I lose my own soul,
And in Heaven unknown is my name?

What will it profit, when life here is o'er,
Though earth's farthest corners I see,
If, going my way and doing my will,
I miss what His love planned for me?

What will it profit, when life here is o'er,
Though earth's fleeting love has been mine,
If, seeking its gifts, I fail to secure
The riches of GOD'S love divine?

What will if profit? My soul, STOP and think,
What balance that day will declare!
Life's record laid bare, will gain turn to loss,
And leave me at last to despair!

Grace E. Troy

Knowledge

There is an old proverb which says:

He that knows not and knows not that he
knows not is a fool: shun him.
He that knows not and knows that he
knows not is a child: teach him.
He that knows and knows not that he
   knows is asleep: wake him.
He that knows and knows that he knows
is a wise man: follow him.

Look up and read the following Bible references for some good things to know: Job 19:25; 2 Tim. 1:12; 1 John 5:13; Phil. 3:8-10; Col. 1:9,10. How many more can you find?

A Graduate's Prayer and Answer

I asked the Saviour for some motto sweet,
Some rule of life by which to guide my feet;
I asked and paused. He answered soft and low,
   "God's will to KNOW."

"Will knowledge, then, suffice, dear Lord?" I cried
But 'ere the question into silence died,
The answer came, "Nay, this remember, too,
   God's will to DO."

Once more I asked, "Is there still more to tell?"
And once again the answer sweetly fell,
"Yea, this one thing all others above,
   God's will to LOVE."

Pleasing God

Is there a young man or a young woman who is anxious to walk with God, yet fearful of losing some imaginary advantage, missing some position, and who wonders if it might not be possible to go just so far, and make it all right later? Take courage, dear graduate! Emulate Enoch, and seek to walk with God. Enoch had to bear witness against the world (Jude 14,15). His life was a short one as reckoned in his day, but his record was: "He pleased God" (Heb. 11:5).
