Bethlehem Ephratah
The great Roman Emperor, Caesar Augustus himself, issued a decree regarding taxation. In an obscure little province of the worldwide empire, a young man and his espoused wife went to their native hamlet for the taxing, and a Babe was born. Caesar Augustus neither knew nor cared. But over seven hundred years before, the prophet Micah had pre-written the place of that humble birth. "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:2).
"God works in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm."
