You Must Have an Object
"Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. O Israel, trust thou in the Lord" (Psalm 115:4,8,9).
You cannot have a man living without an object, and whatever the object may be, it characterizes him. If it is money, he is covetous man; if it is power, he is ambitious, and so on. But if I have Christ as the object of my love, I follow Him, and the Holy Spirit reveals to my heart the things that relate to Him.

Be Thou, the object, bright and fair,
To fill and satisfy the heart;
My hope to meet Thee in the air,
And never more from Thee to part.
