Nothing But Christians
Satan has two grand methods of corrupting God's children. The first of these is the accursed thing—the world allowed in the heart. His second method is for the Christian to join with the world in its pursuits—the world allowed in the walk.
Throughout our Christian course the twofold question arises in our hearts: Is the Lord enough for me, or shall I allow the attractions which the world offers me? Is it possible for us to be Christians, nothing but Christians in our walk; to be completely separate from the world, to be on no terms with it, and to avoid every association with it?
The answer to these questions is "Yes," because God's Word teaches and exhorts believers to these truths.
—H.L. Rossier
Everything loss for Him below,
Taking the cross where'er we go,
Showing to all, where once He trod,
Nothing but Christ—the Christ of God!
—S. O'M. Cluff
Having the Spirit we are exhorted to be filled with the Spirit. If the Spirit were ungrieved, and allowed to control our thoughts and affections, the result would be a company of people entirely apart from the world and its excitements, that rejoiced together in a life of which the world has no knowledge, and in which it can find no pleasure. —Hamilton Smith
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world" (1 John 2:15). Oh, what vanity it is to prefer the garlic and onions of Egypt to the milk and honey of Canaan. What folly to esteem visible things more highly than the invisible. How deceitful to care for the present world so highly, as if it will never have an end, and the world to come so little, as if it will never have a beginning. —The Bible Monthly
